Advanced Dental Technology

Digital 3D Impression Scanning

Using this technology, Dr. Langland can scan the teeth instead of using impression material. Many recent studies have shown impression scans to be more accurate and patients say it is much more comfortable than the impression "goop". Digital impressions can be used for crowns, bridges, implants and whitening trays. After the scan, the digital impression appears almost imediately at the lab to begin fabrication.  Because of their superior accuracy, digital impressions result in better fitting restorations and longer lasting dental work. This technology is very popular with our patients who struggle with gagging, as this technique uses only light waves from a small wand to capture the impression.

Digital X-Rays

Digital X-RaysUsing the most advanced dental technology possible is just as important as staying up-to-date on the latest treatment techniques. Because our practice is dedicated to providing you with the safest and most convenient treatment options available, we utilize advanced digital X-ray technology in our office.

Digital X-Rays use less radiation and are more accurate, efficient and comfortable which means less of your time in the dental chair and better treatment outcomes.

Digital Panoramics

Digital PanoramicsOur digital panoramic x-ray machine allows Dr. Langland to assess the entire lower skull for tumors, bone growth and pathology. Areas such as the sinus cavities and below the jaw are common areas for pathology and should be checked at least every six years. These images can also be sent instantly online to specialists for orthodontic or surgical assessment.

Digital Intra-Oral Photography

Digital Intra-Oral PhotographyYou know the importance of prevention when it comes to your dental health, and we’re always looking for new, improved ways to help you achieve a healthy smile for life. While X-rays provide valuable information, they don’t give a complete view of everything that is going on inside your mouth. Dr. Langland uses intra-oral photography for patient education and before-and-after documentation.

With the use of an intraoral camera, we can see every aspect of your teeth and mouth with incredible detail, uncovering cracked teeth, plaque deposits, cavities next to fillings, and excessive wear. When we can discover oral problems early on, your treatment is much less invasive and much more cost effective.

Our intraoral camera is small, about the size of the mirror we use during your regular hygiene appointments. You probably wouldn’t even notice we’re using it, except that with the intraoral camera, you have the opportunity to see everything we see on a monitor. This is a great tool to help you become more informed about your dental health, as it gives you a clear understanding of your teeth’s condition, and it allows you to make a more informed decision regarding your treatment options.

Fluorescence Oral Cancer Screening

Fluorescence Oral Cancer ScreeningOral cancer continues to have among the highest mortality rates of all cancers and is more common than cervical cancer. The key to successful treatment of oral cancer is early diagnosis which is why Dr. Langland has adopted the VelScope system into practice. Along with a conventional oral exam, the doctors can use this new technology to aid in the detection of abnormal cells. This results in earlier diagnosis and much improved treatment outcomes for our patients.

Piezo Ultrasonic Cleanings

Piezo Ultrasonic CleaningsDuring cleanings, our board-certified dental hygienists use ultrasonic instruments that use high frequency waves and irrigation to break up and flush bacteria from the mouth. These bacteria have been shown to cause gum disease which has recently been linked to heart disease and other general health conditions. This demonstrates the importance of thorough cleanings which necessitates the use of the latest dental hygiene instruments for our patients.
